About Alexi Lalas
Alexi Lalas is best known as a former member of the United States men’s national soccer team. Lalas rose to fame as a defender on the 1994 FIFA World Cup team. For his efforts with the national team, he was named 1995 U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year. He was one of the early stars of the MLS, playing for the New England Revolution, MetroStars, Kansas City Wizards, and Los Angeles Galaxy. The highlight of his American professional career was winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and the MLS Cup all with the Galaxy. Prior to his time in MLS, Lalas laced it up for Italian Serie A club Padova for two seasons. He had a stellar collegiate career at Rutgers and won the Hermann Trophy as the top soccer player in the country in 1991. He has had a busy post-playing career, serving as the general manager of the San Jose Earthquakes, New York Red Bulls, and the Galaxy. Lalas was a soccer analyst for ESPN and ABC and now serves in the same role for Fox Sports.
