About Al Unser Jr.
Al Unser Jr. is a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and member of a legendary racing family. Unser Jr. competed in the CART IndyCar World Series from 1982-1999 and twice finished at the top of the point standings. In 329 career starts between CART and the Indy Racing League, he won 34 races. When he took eight of 16 races and won his second CART Championship in 1994, he was named ABC Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. Unser Jr. was the youngest ever International Race of Champions winner in 1986 and also won in 1988. He also was victorious at the 24 Hours of Daytona twice. In 2009, Unser Jr. was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. His father and uncle were both Indianapolis 500 winners and great IndyCar drivers in their own right.
