He played college basketball at UC Santa Barbara, where in his standout junior season (2023-24), he earned All-Big West First Team honors, averaging about 20 points and 4 assists per game at elite efficiency, shooting 50%+ from the field. Selected 38th overall by the New York Knicks in the 2024 NBA Draft, he was immediately traded to the OKC Thunder. In his first two NBA seasons, Mitchell has emerged as a versatile bench contributor and occasional starter, showcasing scoring, playmaking, and athleticism for a contender. He helped the Thunder win an NBA championship in 2025. Known for his left-handed shot and composure, he continues to develop as a key piece of OKC’s young core.
