About Yolanda Griffith
One of the best women’s basketball players of all-time, Yolanda Griffith was an early star of the WNBA. Griffith was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. She played for the Sacramento Monarchs, Seattle Storm, and Indiana Fever. An eight-time All-Star, Griffith was the WNBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in her 1999 rookie season. She took the Monarchs to a WNBA Championship in 2005 and was Finals MVP. Griffith started her professional career playing overseas in the EuroLeague and briefly in the American Basketball League. With Team USA, she won Olympic gold medals in 2000 and 2004. Currently, she is on the USA Basketball Women’s Development National Team Committee. Griffith has been an assistant coach for the Fever, Dartmouth College, and Lafayette College. Collegiately, she competed at Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University. Griffith is a native of Chicago, Illinois and was a Parade All-American at George Washington Carver High School.
