About Carol Blazejowski
Carol Blazejowski is a retired professional women’s basketball player. Blazejowski was one of the greatest scorers in the history of women’s basketball even though she did not begin intense competition until her senior year of high school. She attended Montclair State College and was a three-time All-American. In 1978, she won the inaugural Wade Trophy for being the nation’s finest collegiate player in 1978. After her college career, Blazejowski played two seasons of AAU basketball where she led the Allentown, Pennsylvania Crestettes to the semifinals both years. She was the leading scorer during the 1979 World Championship and was chosen to play in the 1980 Summer Olympics, but her chances of a gold medal faded after the U.S. boycott of the 1980 Olympics. In 1980, Blazejowski became the highest-paid player in the Women’s Pro Basketball League, but the league folded after her first season. Blazejowski then served six years working at the front desk of the NBA before she was named the Vice President and General Manager of the New York Liberty of the WNBA.
