About Lynette Woodard
As the first-ever female member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Lynette Woodard became an inspiration to women around the world. Woodard first played for the Globetrotters in 1985 and is a Basketball Hall of Famer. Without the option of a strong American women’s professional league for most of her career, she mostly played overseas. When the WNBA became reality in 1997, Woodard played for the Cleveland Rockers and Detroit Shock. At the University of Kansas, she was a four-time All-American and is women’s college basketball’s all-time leading scorer. Woodard won a gold medal with Team USA in the 1984 Olympics. Following retirement, she served as an assistant coach and interim head coach at Kansas. Woodard is now a financial assistant at A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to the Basketball Hall of Fame, Woodard is a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, and National High School Hall of Fame.
