Candace Parker Biography

Candace Parker led the University of Tennessee to back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2007 and 2008 and earned National Player of the Year honors in both seasons.  Since joining the Los Angeles Sparks as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, she has been the face of the league, earning both WNBA Rookie of the Year and WNBA MVP honors in 2008 and winning a second WNBA MVP award in 2013. She's a seven-time All-Star, ten-time All-WNBA Team selection, and two-time WNBA All-Defensive Team pick. In 2008 she was named the AP Female Athlete of the Year and followed that up by winning the 2009 Favorite Female Athlete Teen Choice Award. She has also been an international star, leading Team USA to gold medals in both the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2012 London Olympic Games. Parker helped the Sparks win a WNBA Championship in 2016. After 13 seasons in Los Angeles, she signed with her hometown Chicago Sky and won her second league championship in 2021. In 2023, Parker took her talents to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.
