About Will Wade
Will Wade is the head men's basketball coach at NC State. Prior to arriving in Raleigh, Wade orchestrated an amazing turnaround at McNeese State, going a combined 50-9 in two years with two Southland Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. He was also named conference Coach of the Year each season.
Wade formerly served as head coach at Louisiana State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Chattanooga. His most notable experience came with the LSU Tigers from 2017-22, going 105-51 with three NCAA Tournament appearances.
At VCU, he kept the program's momentum established by Shaka Smart. The Rams were NCAA Tournament participants inWade's firstseasonat the helm, going 25-11 with an Atlantic 10 regular season title.
Prior to returning to VCU, he spent two seasons as the head coach at Chattanooga. Each season, the Mocs posted winning records and finishes second in the Southern Conference. Following his first year, Wade was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year. When he led Chattanooga to a 20-win season in 2015, it was the program's first in ten seasons. Wade helped establish VCU's winning culture as a top assistant under Smart from 2009-2013. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Harvard University. Wade got his start in basketball at Clemson University, where he was a student manager before becoming a graduate assistant and Director of Basketball Operations.
