About Wanderlei Silva
There are not many mixed martial artists who have been more popular than Wanderlei Silva. Silva is arguably the greatest fighter in PRIDE history. He is the former middleweight champion and holds the Japanese promotion’s records for wins, knockouts, and title defenses. Silva grabbed an even larger audience when he had a second stay with the UFC in 2007. Going up against standouts like Chuck Liddell, Rampage Jackson, and Rich Franklin, his record in the Octagon was not sterling, but he won Fight of the Night honors five times and Knockout of the Night twice. Silva was victorious in the final bout of his career, knocking out Brian Stann in the second round. He retired in 2014 with a 35-14 career record. Silva began his career fighting in Brazil and earned his nickname, “The Axe Murderer” at this time. Silva owns the Wand Fight Team gym in Las Vegas.
