About Vernon Carey
Vernon Carey was a star in his one college season at Duke. Carey averaged 17.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on the way to being named USBWA National Freshman of the Year and a consensus second-team All-American. He was also ACC Rookie of the Year and a first-team All-ACC pick. Carey was a consensus five-star recruit who picked the Blue Devils coming out of University School in South Florida. His father, Vernon Sr., was a former first round pick of the Miami Dolphins who played offensive line in the NFL for eight seasons.
