About Tony Armas
Tony Armas is a former outfielder who played in Major League Baseball. While he missed 302 games in his career due to twelve stents on the disabled list, Armas was an integral part of the teams he played for when he was healthy with a .252 career batting average with 251 home runs and 815 runs batted in. Tonys best season was obviously 1984 when he became the American League RBI Champion with 123 RBIs, had a .268 batting average, and 43 home runs. He also earned the Silver Slugger Award and was named to The Sporting News and UPI postseason AL All-Star teams, and placed seventh in the AL MVP voting. Tony also earned two All-Star selections in his career prior to his retirement from playing at the end of the 1989 season. Following his playing days Tony returned to his native Venezuela where he has become a coach in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
