Alex Gordon Biography

Alex Gordon has blossomed into a star in left field for the Kansas City Royals.  Gordon is a two-time All-Star and has won four consecutive Gold Gloves.  In 2014, 13 of his 19 home runs either tied the game or gave the Royals the lead.  That effort undoubtedly helped the franchise make their first trip to the postseason in 28 seasons.  Gordon was along for the magical ride that saw Kansas City win the American League and fight all the way to Game 7 of the World Series before coming up short to the San Francisco Giants.  After four tough big league seasons, the former top prospect finally had his breakout in 2011, hitting over .300 for the first time in his career, smacking 23 home runs, and winning his first Gold Glove.  Gordon was pegged to be a success when the Royals drafted him second overall out of Nebraska in 2005.  In 2006, he was Baseball America’s Minor League Player of the Year.  Gordon won the Golden Spikes Award, Brooks Wallace Award, and Dick Howser Trophy as Nebraska made it to the College World Series in his final college season.
