About Carlos Delgado
Carlos Delgado was one of the best hitters of his era. During his senior year of high school, Delgado had the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and the Toronto Blue Jays trying to sign him. The Toronto Blue Jays signed Delgado in 1988 after Epy Guerrero discovered him. Delgado was named the number 4 prospect in the minor leagues. He made his major league debut with the Blue Jays during the 1993 season. The Blue Jays made it to the World Series in 1993, but Delgado did not get to play, but he was still awarded a World Series Ring. Delgado became a free agent following the 2004 season and he signed with the Florida Marlins in 2005. On November 5, 2005, the Marlins traded Delgado to the New York Mets. Delgado announced his retirement on April 13, 2011. During his playing career, Delgado was a 2x All-Star and a 3x Silver Slugger Award recipient. He also won the AL Hank Aaron Award, the Roberto Clemente Award and he was the AL RBI champion.
