About Al Leiter
Al Leiter had a standout 19 seasons as a pitcher for four different organizations. Leiter was a two-time All-Star, won 162 games, and finished with a 3.80 ERA. He won back-to-back World Series titles with the Toronto Blue Jays and also helped the Florida Marlins to a championship in 1997. Leiter was the Game 7 starter for the Marlins that year when they got a 3-2 series-clinching win in 11 innings against the Cleveland Indians. One season later he was traded to the New York Mets and likely had the best campaign of his career. Leiter went 17-6 and finished with a 2.47 ERA as the Mets made the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons. From 1995-2004, he won at least ten games each season. The New York Yankees originally drafted Leiter in the second round in 1984. He spent 12 seasons commenting on Yankees games for the YES Network and still provides analysis MLB Network.
