About Eddie Murray
Eddie Murray is a 2003 inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame and was listed to The Sporting News list of Top 100 Baseball Players of All Time in 1998. Murray was drafted into the MLB in 1973 and made his major league debut in 1977 for the Baltimore Orioles. As a rookie, Murray batted .283 and notched 27 home runs on his way to winning American League Rookie of the Year honors. Murray spent 11 seasons with the Orioles, averaging 28 home runs and almost 100 RBIs each year and was routinely in the running for MVP but never was awarded the honor. Murray then went to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two seasons, including a 1990 season that ended with Murray leading the MLB in hitting with a .330 average. Murray played for 7 more seasons with several different teams but ended his career with 3,255 hits and 504 home runs during a career that saw him selected to 8 All-Star Games, 3 Gold Gloves, 3 Silver Sluggers, and a World Series Championship. Murrays #33 jersey was retired by the Orioles and in 2012 Camden Yards erected a statue of Murray outside the stadium.
