Harold Baines

Harold Baines is a retired MLB outfielder, best known for his three separate stints with the Chicago White Sox. A high school All-American in 1977, Baines was selected with the first overall pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 1977 MLB Draft. Three years later, Baines made his MLB debut, eventually becoming a regular outfielder in 1982, when he hit 25 homeruns and had 105 RBI in his first full season. In 1986, a knee injury forced Baines into a full-time designated hitter role, but this did not limit his production, as he recorded 166 hits in 1988. In 1989, Baines was traded to the Texas Rangers, and bounced around between Texas, Baltimore, Oakland, and Chicago until he retired in 2001. Baines ended his career with 2,866 hits, 384 homeruns, and 1,628 RBI. These stats led him to six All-Star appearances and a Silver Slugger award. Following his playing career, Baines would become a bench coach with the White Sox, eventually winning his first World Series ring with the team in 2005. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
