About Tom Glavine
When baseball people call someone a “crafty lefty”, they are referring to a pitcher with all of Tom Glavine’s attributes. From 1987 to 2008 he finessed opposing batters with a spot on fastball and an array of secondary pitches to earn 305 career wins, a 3.54 career Earned Run Average and 2,607 strikeouts in route to winning two National League Cy Young Awards. His many other notable accomplishments include helping the Atlanta Braves to a World Series championship in 1995, earning 10 NL All-Star appearances, four Silver Slugger Awards and winning 20 games five times in his career. In 2014 the Atlanta Braves announced they would be retiring his legendary No. 47 jersey after it was decided that he would be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility. Since his retirement from baseball he has gone on to cover Braves games as a guest commentator for SportSouth and Fox Sports South.
