About Tim Floyd
Prior to being hired as the head basketball coach at the University of Texas at El Paso in 2010, Tim Floyd developed an impressive coaching resume that included time at both the college and NBA levels. He began his career at Louisiana Tech in 1976 as an assistant coach and then joined his current institution in 1977 as an assistant coach. After a decade at UTEP he coached two years at Idaho, six years at New Orleans and four years at Iowa State before landing his dream job as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls. He headed up the Bulls from 1998 to 2001 before being tapped by the New Orleans Hornets in 2003. After one year with the Hornets he returned to the NCAA as the head coach at USC, where he led the Trojans to a 2009 Pac-10 Championship. During his five seasons at UTEP his teams have posted an impressive 71-52 record, to bring him to an overall 390-219 overall head coaching record. Floyd knows his stuff, and is a true basketball guy.
