About Tiago Splitter
Tiago Splitter is a professional basketball player, currently playing for the San Antonio Spurs ofthe NBA. Splitter is originally from Brazil, but started his professional basketball career in Spain,where he won two Spanish League Championships and multiple Spanish Super Cup titles. In2006, Splitter declared for the NBA Draft, and was taken in the first round by the San AntonioSpurs. Splitter signed a contract with another Spanish team in 2008, informing the Spurs hewould not be coming to San Antonio that season. Splitter would opt out of his Spanish Leaguecontract in 2010, officially becoming a member of the San Antonio Spurs that same season.Serving as Tim Duncan’s backup, Splitter wouldsee limited time until the 2012-2013 season,when he would be a pivotal part of the team that made it all the way to the NBA Finals in alosing effort to the Miami Heat. The next season, Splitter and the Spursmade it to the Finalsagain, this time defeating the Heat, making Splitter the first Brazilian born player to win an NBAChampionship.
