About Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva is a mixed martial arts fighter from Brazil, competing in the Light Heavyweightdivision. Silva grew up poor in his native Brazil, earning money through various street fightsuntil signing with the UFC in 2006. Silva debuted in 2007 against James Irvin at UFC 71, winningwith a first round TKO. Silva would go on to win four straight decisions, eventually suffering hisfirst loss against Lyoto Machida in 2009. After failing a drug test at UFC 125, Silva wassuspended from the UFC for one year, returning in 2012 to fight forthe promotion once again.Silva was arrested the night before UFC Fight Night 35, and was released from his contract,eventually returning in September of 2014. His return did not last long, as new evidence led theUFC to fire him again less than two weeks later. Silva is an extremely talented fighter compilinga 21-3 overall record, and can be a dangerous forcewithin the Octagon as long as he keeps outof trouble.
