About Simone Manuel
Simone Manuel made history at the 2016 Olympics. Manuel became the first African American woman to win an individualOlympic medalin swimming. She tied for gold with Canada's Penny Oleksiak in the 100meter freestyle. The pair set an Olympic record in the process. Manuel also picked up a silver medal with Team USA in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. She is a one time World Champion as well, having swam in the prelims for the U.S. as they went on to gold in the 4x100 meter free relay in 2015. Manuel dominated the college scene at Stanford Unversity. In 2015, she won NCAA championships in the 50 and 100 meter free.
