About Ruben Sierra
In 1985, the Texas Rangers gave 20 year-old Ruben Sierra a shot at his Major League dreams by signing him to a contract. One year later, Sierra made his MLB debut and became the first Ranger to hit a home run in his rookie debut. Sierra played for 6 seasons with the Rangers, having his best in 1989 when he led the league in RBIs with 119 and had a career high 29 HRs. The switch-hitting right fielder was a journeyman throughout his career, playing for 9 different teams throughout his 20 year career. He made 4 trips to the All-Star Game throughout the career and in 2001 he was named the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award. Sierra ended his career with over 300 HRs and 1,322 Runs Batted In.
