Roy Oswalt

At 5'’10"”, Roy Oswalt didn’t get a lot of attention as a high school pitcher so following his graduation he attended a junior college where he was noticed by one major league scout, from the Houston Astros. The Astros went on to select Oswalt in the 1996 MLB Amateur Draft and he spent the next 5 seasons working through the Astros’ minor league system. In 2001 Oswalt finally was called up where he won 14 games in his rookie season. In 2004 he had a break out year when he recorded his first of two consecutive 20 win seasons. Oswalt went on to lead the Astros to their first World Series appearance in 2005 when Oswalt was selected to his first of three consecutive All-Star Games. When he was traded from the team in 2010, he was 2nd on the franchise record books for career wins and strikeouts. Oswalt went on to play 4 more seasons with 3 different teams and at the end of his career he was in the top-100 in career strikeout totals with 1,852.
