Ron Zook

Ron Zook began his football coaching career after graduating from Miami (OH) University where he was a member of the (then) Redskins football team. He began by coaching defensive backs for a high school team until he became a graduate coaching assistant at Murray State University. Zook quickly made his way throughout the college scene, working as a position coach for several schools and becoming a defensive coordinator for Cincinnati and Kansas. He then accepted the defensive coordinator position at the University of Florida in 1991 and stayed with the Gators until making the leap to the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Zook spent several seasons in the NFL before returning to the college game to accept the head coaching position at the University of Florida. He coached the Gators for 3 seasons until accepting the same position at the University of Illinois in 2005. Zook had a 57-65 record as a head coach, winning just 1 bowl game in 4 attempts. Following his head coaching career, he worked as an analyst for CBS and in 2014 was hired by the Green Bay Pakers as an assistant special teams coordinator.
