About Brad Childress
Brad Childress got his start in big-time college football as a wide receiver and quarterback at the University of Illinois. He went on to earn his degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1978. Upon his graduation he returned to the University of Illinois as the running backs and wide receivers coach from 1978 to 1984. After the 1984 season he made the jump to the NFL for one season as the quarterbacks coach with the Indianapolis Colts before returning to the college game as the offensive coordinator at Northern Arizona University from 1986 to 1989. In 1990 he signed on as the wide receivers coach at Utah, then headed to the University of Wisconsin from 1991 to 1998. After the 1998 season he jumped to the NFL for good, serving as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2002 and as the offensive coordinator from 2003 to 2005. In 2006 the Minnesota Vikings hired him as their new head coach and he went on to lead them to consecutive NFC North titles in 2008 and 2009. In 2012 he signed on as the offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns. However, he has since become the spread game analyst with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2013.
