About Brian Griese
Brian Griese is a retired NFL quarterback and current quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He is also known for a successful turn as a sports broadcaster for ESPN that culminated in joining the Monday Night Football booth. As a player, Griesegot his start as a walk-on at theUniversity of Michigan in 1993. Griese took over startingQB duties in 1995, playing sparingly until fullysecuring the job during his 1997 senior season. His only full season as a starterwould prove to be a goodone, as Griese and Heisman winner Charles Woodson led the Wolverines to an undefeated recordand anational championship.
Following his graduation, Griese entered the 1998 NFL Draft, where he wasround by theDenver Broncos. He inherited the starting job after John Elway retiredin 1999, and he did not disappoint, earning Pro Bowlhonors in the 2000 season. Griese left Denver in 2002, eventually finding a homewith the Miami Dolphins.One season later, Griese would sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and after a two-season stint inChicago, eventually retired as a Buccaneer in 2008.
