Blake Anderson

While he is a coach now, Blake Anderson started his career as a player when he was a quarterback and wide receiver. After an injury and transferring schools, Blake was recognized by Mike Lucas as being better suited for coaching and he took that advice. Like most coaches, he got his start as a graduate assistant in 1992. Over the years he worked many different positions for many different schools gaining experience and making his way up the ladder. He has been an assistant coach, wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator, and running backs coach in his time. In 2014 Anderson got his chance to take a position as a head coach after leading the North Carolina Tar Heels to 35 school records and a campaign ranked eighth in the nation in scoring as the offensive coordinator. On December 19, 2013 Blake was announced as the new head coach for Arkansas State. Anderson had tremendous success in seven seasons as Red Wolves head coach racking up a 51-37 record. His teams won back-to-back Sun Belt titles in 2015 and 2016 and made six bowl appearances. Following the 2020 season, Anderson was hired at Utah State.
