About Bob Stoops
Bob Stoops was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma since 1999-2017. Stoops was born in Youngstown, Ohio and played his college football at Iowa after graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School. During his time at Iowa he was an All-Big Ten selection at defensive back and was named one of the leagues most valuable players. Upon earning his degree in marketing in 1982 he signed on as graduate assistant at Iowa, and then served as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater from 1985 to 1987 before signing on as an assistant at Kent State. From 1989 to 1998 he served as an assistant and defensive coordinator at Kansas State and Florida before being hired to head up the Sooners. He led his teams to 190 wins, 121 conference wins, ten Big 12 Conference Championships and an NCAA National Championship in 2000. His many awards include being named the Walter Camp Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2003, Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2000, 2003 and 2006 and being named the Bobby Dowd Coach of the Year in 2003.
