About Ron Gant
Ron Gant was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 1983 MLB Draft and after 4 seasons in the minors was called up to the major leagues in 1987. Gant spent a season and a half playing with the team before being set back down to the minors and when he returned in 1990 he won the NL Comeback Player of the Year award when he batted .303 with 32 home runs. That season was also his first of two consecutive seasons to hit for at least 30 home runs and steal 30 bases, becoming just the third player to join the 30/30 club twice (preceded only by Willie Mays and Barry Bonds). After 6 seasons with the Braves, Gant went on to spend the next 10 seasons of his career with 8 different teams. Although he never returned to the .300 seasons of his early career, he finished his 16 season career batting .256 with 352 home runs. Following his playing career, Gant has spent time as a color commentator for TBS and currently co-hosts Good Day Atlanta.
