About Cecil Fielder
Cecil Fielder is a former professional first baseman and designated hitter for the MLB. Fielder attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he played baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays selected Fielder in the 31st round of the 1981 amateur draft, but he did not sign with them. The following year, the Kansas City Royals selected Fielder in the 4th round of the 1982 amateur draft, and he signed with them. In 1983, the Royals traded Fielder to the Royals where he played as a part-time third baseman. In 1988, Fielder signed with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan where he quickly became a hero to the local baseball fans. From 1990-96, Fielder played for the Detroit Tigers where he was a 3x All-Star, 2x Silver Slugger Award winner, 2x AL Home Run Champions and 3x AL RBI Champion. Fielder played for the New York Yankees from 1996-97 and he was a part of the World Series Champions team. In 1998, he played for both the Anaheim Angels and the Cleveland Indians. In 1994, he was inducted into the Kinston Professional Baseball Hall of Fame.
