About Rod Brind'Amour
Rob Brind'Amour is a former professional ice hockey center, who played in the National Hockey League for 20 years. Rod was drafted in the 1988 National Hockey League Entry Draft in the first round, ninth overall, to the Saint Louis Blues, but played the next season at Michigan State University. At the conclusion of his season at Michigan State University Rod joined the Blues NHL team for the 1989 NHL playoffs where he made his debut in game five of the division semifinals for the Blues against the Minnesota North Stars and on his first shot attempt he was successful and scored for the Blues. Rod was also honored with being selected for the All-Rookie Team in 1989-90. Brind'Amour was later named the captain of the Hurricanes before the start of the 2005-06 season, the season where Rod won his only Stanly Cup. Rod played 1,484 games in his NHL career, and his number 17 was retired on February 18, 2011. Rod Brind'Amour now spends his time as the Hurricanes assistant coach and development coach.
