About Robert de Wilde
Also known as, The Flying Dutchman, Robert de Wilde is a professional Bicycle Motocross racer. Robert began to ride competitively in 1982 at the age of five years old after he got encouragement from a friend to try it out. Needless to say Robert took to the sport quickly and over the next few years he really honed his ability to become a top rider in the sport. At the age of 21 he turned professional and at the time he was one of only three pro riders from Europe. While he is known for his personality and hair style, in his career he has earned top honors including the American Bicycle Association World Cup Championship twice as well as the ABA AA Pro World Championship. In 2008 he was chosen to become a member of the Dutch BMX Olympic team and participated in the Summer Olympics in Beijing where he made it to the quarter finals in the off-road class.
