About Rob Ray
Rob Ray is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player for the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators. He was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy by the National Hockey League in 1999 for leadership and humanitarianism. He currently holds the Sabres record for most penalty minutes in one player's tenure with the club. During fights, Ray's style was to remove his jersey and shoulder pads so his opponent could not grab him easily. The NHL created a new rule that penalized players for removing their jersey during an altercation. Pundits saw this as a direct result of Ray's style of fighting, and nicknamed the rule the “Rob Ray Rule” but even after the implementation of the rule, Ray's fighting prowess continued unabated.
