About Riyad Mahrez
Riyad Mahrez is an Algerian professional soccer player who plays as a right winger for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League and captains the Algeria national team. Regarded as one of Africa's greatest soccer players, Mahrez began his career at AAS Sarcelles, becoming professional with Quimper in 2009 and spending three years at Le Havre (2010–14). He joined Leicester City in 2014 and was instrumental in their 2015–16 Premier League title win, earning the PFA Players' Player of the Year and Algerian Footballer of the Year awards.
In 2018, Mahrez signed with Manchester City, winning four Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and a Community Shield, including a 2022–23 continental treble. His signature move, “La spéciale,” involves faking a shot with his left foot to outmaneuver defenders. In 2023, he moved to Al-Ahli. Internationally, he debuted for Algeria in 2014, leading them to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title with a crucial semi-final free-kick. He’s competed in the 2014 World Cup and multiple AFCON tournaments.
