About Rico Petrocelli
Rico Petrocelli is a retired Major League Baseball player. Rico made it to the big leagues in 1963 and spent his entire professional career with the Boston Red Sox. Rico began his career as a shortstop and set records at the time for most home runs in a single season by a shortstop and had the best fielding percentage amongst players at that position in 1968 and 1969. The two time All-Star made the move to third base in 1971 where he never missed a beat and became the leader in fielding percentage again in that season. Petrocelli retired from the game in 1976 with 210 home runs, 773 runs batted in, and 653 runs in 1553 games and was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997. Since retiring he has been a minor league manager and also spent some time as a color commentator for Red Sox radio broadcasts.
