About Perris Benegas
Perris Benegas stands as an American freestyle BMX rider who gained fame through her powerful riding style and fighting spirit. Born on July 22, 1995, in Reno, Nevada, she started BMX riding with her older brother and his friends which led to her becoming a skilled competitor in the sport.
The 2018 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Chengdu, China brought Benegas her first gold medal in BMX freestyle park competition. The United States achieved a historic sweep at the competition when American riders took all three top positions. She expanded her achievements by winning the 2020 Bloom BMX Freestyle Rider of the Year award while achieving success at Vans BMX Pro Cup events in Germany and Huntington Beach.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Benegas competed for the United States where she secured a fourth position in the first-ever BMX freestyle park competition. The ACL and meniscus surgery she underwent in 2023 forced her to take a break but she recovered well enough to return to competition in May 2024. She earned a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics through her exceptional performance in the women's BMX freestyle competition.
Benegas gained her fearless BMX riding style from her Muay Thai background. She combines her love of coffee with her personal brand through various ways. She currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her golden retriever Kiah while inspiring the BMX community through her athletic abilities and determination.
