Patric Young

Patric Young began his career as a University of Florida basketball player and SEC Network analyst before becoming a motivational speaker after facing life-changing challenges.

Patric Young entered the world on February 1, 1992, in Jacksonville, Florida. During his time at the University of Florida from 2010 to 2014 he established himself as a dominant force in basketball. The 6-foot-9 player achieved a milestone by becoming the 50th player in UF history to score more than 1,000 points while accumulating 1,307 career points and 800 rebounds. Young received three SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards and secured the SEC Defensive Player of the Year title in 2014. The Academic All-American award joined his collection of achievements as he helped the Gators reach three Elite Eight tournaments and a Final Four appearance during his playing years.

Young entered the 2014 NBA Draft without selection before starting his professional basketball career in Turkey Greece and Italy. The former professional basketball player retired in 2020 to start his broadcasting career at the SEC Network where he used his broadcasting degree from the University of Florida to become a studio host.

A car accident in Nebraska during June 2022 paralyzed Young from the waist down. He exchanged vows with his fiancée in a hospital courtyard only ten days after the accident. Young now uses his motivational speaking platform to share his story about overcoming challenges through faith. Through his book Sit to Rise: Turning Your Darkest Pain into Your Brightest Victory he shares his story to help others who face challenges.

The PY4 Foundation established by Young provides practical assistance and hope to people experiencing life-changing events while sharing his personal story to motivate others.
