About Notah Begay
Notah Begay is the only full-blooded Native American to have played on the PGA Tour. Begay attended Stanford University where he was a three-time All-American. Begay was a member of Stanford’s 1994 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship team. Begay turned professional in 1995, after graduation. He placed 10th on the Nike Tour money list in 1998 and earned a place on the PGA Tour for 1999. Begay recorded four PGA Tour wins, with his third and fourth wins coming in consecutive weeks. Since 2000, back issues that put his future as a professional golfer in doubt plagued him. In 2006, he played on the Nationwide Tour and at the end of 2006; he earned a card for the European Tour from their qualifying school. In December 2008, he regained his playing card for the 2009 PGA Tour season. In 2005, Begay established the non-profit Notah Begay III Foundation. The goal of the foundation was to provide health and wellness education to Native American youth in soccer and golf programs.
