Andy North Biography

Andy North is a two-time U.S. Open champion who has extended his legacy in golf to a new generation as a longtime television analyst. North won the U.S. Open in 1978 and 1985. He was a member of Team USA for the 1985 Ryder Cup. Outside of his major championships, North had just one other win on the PGA Tour, the 1977 American Express Westchester Classic. Since 1992, he has been a golf commentator for ESPN. North played collegiately at the University of Florida, where he was a three-time first team All-SEC pick and a three-time All-American. He has been inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame. North was born, raised, and still lives in Wisconsin. The yearly Andy North and Friends Golf Classic raises money for the University of Wisconsin cancer center. For his work in cancer research fundraising, North was given the 2013 Vince Lombardi Award.
