About Bobby Clampett
Bobby Clampett made a name for himself on the golf course during his days at Brigham Young University, where he was a three-time All-American and two-time Collegiate Golfer of the Year. His amateur honors include winning the Porter Cup, the Sunnehanna Amateur, the Western Amateur and the 1978 World Amateur. After finishing as the low amateur at the 1978 U.S. Open and 1979 Masters he turned pro and joined the PGA Tour in 1980. In 1981 he finished 27th at the PGA Championship and would go on to top that performance in 1982 with a 10th place finish at The Open Championship and a 3rd place finish at the U.S. Open. He also earned his first PGA win that season, capturing the Southern Open with a 14 under par 266. His other notable wins came in 1981 at the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am and Buick Open. During his career he has also served as a broadcaster for CBS Sports and ABC Sports during their coverage of the PGA Tour.
