About Nick Diaz
Nick Diaz is an American Mixed Martial Artist who is currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Diaz became a professional mixed martial arts fighter in 2001 right after his 18th birthday and he won his first fight against Mike Wick at IFC Warriors Challenge 15. In his second professional fight, Diaz became a champion when he defeated Chris Lytle for the IFC Welterweight Championship in 2002 at IFC Warriors 17. Diaz was then invited to participate in Ultimate Athlete’s King of the Mountain where he won his first two fights, but lost in the finals to Jeremy Jackson. Diaz participated in the International Cage Fighting Organization’s inaugural event where he defeated Ray Steinbeiss. He then signed a two-fight deal with the PRIDE Fight Championships with the first scheduled fight to be against Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi. On April 10, 2007, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced that Diaz failed the drug test that was taken shortly before his win over Gomi. Diaz has fought in a total of 36 fights and won 26 of them.
