About Cody McKenzie
Cody McKenzie was most famously known in previous years as a distinguished mixed martial artist. Currently retired, his most recent competition was in the Welterweight division. McKenzie was born in Cordova, Alaska in 1987 and had aspired to become a mixed martial artist fighter since his sophomore year of high school. McKenzie made this dream a reality in 2007, when he launched his professional career with his first victory in a fight taking place in British Colombia, Canada over Brett Held. Not long after, McKenzie signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). McKenzie fought competitively until 2014. Throughout his professional career, he earned a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and won a total of 15 out of 21 matches. McKenzie retired from the sport in December of 2014. One year prior to his retirement, he was featured in Fight Life, an award-winning mixed martial arts documentary.
