About Chael Sonnen
Chael Sonnen is a mixed martial artist for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Sonnen began wrestling at a young age and during high school, Sonnen was a state runner-up. Sonnen attended BYU until they began considering to cut the wrestling program. Sonnen then transferred to the University of Oregon where he earned AllAmerican honors, was a two-time runner-up PAC-10 runner up and he won the silver medal at the 2000 Greco-Roman World University Championships. Sonnen began boxing training in 1996 and he had a goal of competing in the UFC upon graduating from high school. Sonnen’s MMA career began in 1997 and at 19 he defeated Ben Hailey. Sonnen has also participated in Bodog Fight, World Extreme Cagefighting on top of his UFC career. Throughout his career, Sonnen has fought in 44 fights and he won 29 of them. Seven wins have come by knockout, five by submission and 17 by decision.
