About Miesha Tate
Miesha Tate competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and uses her background in kickboxing and wrestling to dominate her opponents in the Octagon. Tate was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, and got her start on the boys’ wrestling team in high school, going on to win a state title in the women’s division and a national championship at the World Team Trials before heading to Central Washington University. While at Central Washington she began pursuing a career in mixed martial arts and compiled a 5-1 amateur career record before turning pro 2007. After one year as a pro she made her Strikeforce debut and went on to win the Bantamweight Championship and win the Strikeforce 2010 Women’s Bantamweight Tournament. Prior to joining the UFC in 2013 she was named the World MMA Female Fighter of the Year in 2010 and 2011. Outside the Octagon she has made appearances in several MMA publications and an appearance in the 2013 ESPN Body Issue.
