About Mike Thibault
Mike Thibault is the head coach of the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. After graduating from St. Martin’s University, Thibault worked as a scout for the Los Angeles Lakers and then in 1980, he served as the director of scouting and an assistant coach. In 1982, Thibault left the Lakers to serve as an assistant coach and director of scouting for the Chicago Bulls. Thibault left the NBA to serve as the head coach and franchise general manager of the Calgary 88’s of the World Basketball League. He also worked for USA Basketball and coached the United States national team. Thibault helped lead the team to the gold medal in the 1993 FIBA World Championship qualifying tournament. Thibault was hired by the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA to serve as the head coach. He remained with the Sun until December 18, 2012 when the Washington Mystic hired Thibault as the new head coach and general manager. Thibault is a 3x WNBA Coach of the Year winner.
