Mike Metzger

Mike Metzger grew up in sunny Huntington Beach, California and began riding freestyle motocross as a youngster. In 2002 he made a name for himself by winning the Freestyle and Big Air events at the 2002 X Games. That same year he won a silver medal in the Step Up competition. His performance earned him an estimated $100,000. He followed that up with a gold medal in the Big Air competition in 2003. In 2006 Metzger completed what has become known as “The Impossible Jump”, performing a back flip over the fountains of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career he has been a revolutionary, becoming the first rider to complete back-to-back backflips and perform such basic tricks as can cans and heel clickers. For his accomplishments in the sport he is known as “The Godfather of Freestyle Motocross.” Outside the sport he has appeared in the 2002 motocross racing video game on PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo GameCube.
