About Mike Hessman
Mike Hessman is minor league baseball’s all-time home run king. He retired in 2015 with 433 longballs hit over a 20-year career. In addition to a prolific minor league career, Hessman also appeared in the big leagues with the Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers, and New York Mets. The Braves selected him in the 15th round of the 1996 MLB Draft out of powerhouse Mater Dei High School in California. Hessman had some significant career highlights. In 2007, he was named MVP of the International League after a strong season with the Toledo Mud Hens. He hit 31 homers and 101 RBI, also setting the Mud Hens career home run record that season. The following year, he was named to Team USA for the 2008 Olympics. In 2014, he also set the International League’s all-time home run mark.
