Michelle McGann

Michelle McGann grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida and overcame a juvenile diabetes diagnosis at age 13 to become a three-time Florida State Junior Champion. At the age of 18 she captured the 1987 U.S. Girls’ Junior title and was named the American Junior Golf Association Rolex Junior Player of the Year. That same year she earned Rolex Junior first-team All-American honors and was named the nation’s top amateur player by Gold Digest and Golf Magazine. The following year she won the Doherty Cup Championship and earned a spot to play in the U.S. Women’s Open and Boston Five Classic tournaments as an amateur competitor. In 1989 McGann joined the LPGA Tour and went on to capture her first tour victory in 1995 at the Sara Lee Classic. She’s since won six more tournaments on tour and become a solid finisher in majors. In 1992 she jump started her career with a sixth place finish at the U.S. Women’s Open and then posted a 4th place finish at the LPGA Championship in 1993, followed by a 5th place finish at the 1994 ANA Inspiration and runner-up performance at the du Maurier Classic in 1994. In 1995 and 1996 she finished 10th on the money list in back-to-back years and has since founded the Michelle McGann Golf Classic to benefit the Diabetes Research Institute.
