About Megan Sweeney
Megan Sweeney is a luger who has competed since 2007. Sweeney was fist introduced to luge at a Verizon Slider Search, but it was not until she was at another camp while on vacation that she made the U.S. Junior Olympic Team. Sweeney was originally attracted to the sport through her love of speed. Prior to her luging career, Sweeney participated in the 1998 Junior Olympics in karate and won both the gold and silver medals. In the 2005-06 season, Sweeney raced in the 2005-06 Verizon U.S. Junior National Championship and took home the bronze medal. In 2006 and 2007, Sweeney competed in the Verizon U.S. Junior National Championship and brought home the gold each time. Her best finish of 2008 came at the 2008 Verizon U.S. National Championships when she placed 5th. In 2010, Sweeney competed in the Olympic Games for luge and came in 22nd. Her sister, Emily is following in her footsteps as she competes in the Junior World Cup Tour.
