About Mean Joe Greene
Charles Greene also known as “Mean Joe Greene” is a former defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers and is considered one of the best defensive linemen to ever play in the NFL. Greene attended North Texas State University where he played football for three seasons. In 1984, Greene was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame and in 2006, he was voted to the East-West Shrine Game Hall of Fame. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Greene in the 1st round as the 4th overall pick in the 1969 NFL Draft. Soon after he was drafted, Greene quickly became a dominant player for the Steelers. Greene’s pro football career was full of awards, championships and accolades. Greene is a 5x First-team All-Pro, 11x Pro Bowl selection, 3x Second-team All-Pro, 11x First-team All-AFC and 4x Super Bowl Champion. Greene spent his entire football career with the Steelers before he retired in 1981. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
